Norman To Design New Course In Colorado

JUPITER, Fla. -- Greg Norman has been selected to design a signature golf course for the new private Cornerstone Club in Colorado on approximately 6,000 acres that features terrain ideal for world-class golf. With aspen forests, rolling meadows, and stunning views of the San Juan and Cimarron Mountains, a setting like Cornerstone is difficult -- if not impossible -- to find.

"I fell in love with Colorado many years ago and even maintain a ranch and home here," said Norman after a recent site visit. "To be involved with a development as special and unique as Cornerstone is truly a privilege."

Cornerstone will be a four-season, private second-home community dedicated to living Colorado style with an ideal location equidistant from the ski town of Telluride, the historic mining town of Ouray, and the growing regional transportation and commercial hub of Montrose.

This alpine development is designed to provide the ideal lifestyle for high-end second-home buyers.

This low-density, alpine development is designed to provide the ideal lifestyle for high-end second-home buyers with a service level comparable to the best resorts. Approximately 400 residences will eventually be built on the 6,000-acre site, in alpine-clustered villages to 100 plus acre ranches, leaving over 3,000 acres dedicated to natural open space and outdoor recreation.

The Cornerstone Club golf course is currently under construction with an anticipated opening date of summer of 2006 to coincide with the completion of the first residences. "Cornerstone will be all about enjoying life Colorado style," said Gene Sanger, President of Hunt Realty Corporation.

This private equity golf club will include great dining featuring local chefs, a swim and fitness center, tennis courts and special club area for kids. Given the beauty of this expansive parcel of land, trail systems are being designed to accommodate the most discriminating outdoor set, including equestrian, cross-country skiing, hiking and biking trails. In the winter, the stocked fishing ponds will become ice-skating rinks and the fishing cabins become the warming huts for skaters and cross-country skiers.

"We selected Greg Norman to design our golf course over other top name designers, not only because of his outstanding reputation as a world-champion golfer and industry-leading designer, but because of his appreciation and dedication to the region and lifestyle of Colorado," said Larry Corson, Senior Vice President of Hunt Realty Corporation. "His dedication to wildlife sensitivity, minimal land disturbance, and water conservation practices, combined with his individual personality, all are a good fit with the lifestyle and community planned for Cornerstone."

"The dedication to quality and strong commitment that Hunt Realty has made to ensure the success of this community is very inspiring," said Jason McCoy, President of Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD). "The Cornerstone Club golf course will challenge the good players, yet provide an enjoyable experience for kids and beginner golfers."
