Norman Inspects Construction At The Wave, Muscat

Legendary golfer Greg Norman, designer of the Sultanate's first sea facing PGA links-style golf course at The Wave, Muscat, inspected the progress of the various construction phases that are advancing at an exceptional pace. One of the world's leading signature golf course designers and architects and the Former World No. 1 golfer also held an exclusive golf clinic for members of the Omani Golf Committee and junior golfers at the sales center golf green.

During his second visit to the Sultanate, Norman reviewed the finalization of the shaping of the first 9-holes as well as the progress of the Golf Academy, driving range and flood-lit par-3 practice facility. The entire course is scheduled for completion in 2011.
"I am very happy to be back in Muscat, to see the first hand progress of the golf course on-site at The Wave, Muscat," said Norman. "I fell in love with Oman when I first visited several years ago. Since then, I have felt a great deal of responsibility to create not only a championship golf course, but a very memorable golf experience that incorporates the character of the magnificent land forms and flora found in Oman. Upon completion, the golf course will be one of the most beautiful and unique golf courses that we have ever built. "

Lenarduzzi went on to say that Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) have managed to capture the true essence of the beautiful and scenic Omani landscape through their visionary design philosophy, supporting The Wave, Muscat in positioning the Sultanate as a premier international golfing destination. The signature course design is reflected through the recent formation of the courses' headlands at the tip of the sea-side as well as the dramatic shaping of the dunes that surround the course, as a defining architectural feature. The first 9-hole facility is scheduled to open by end of 2010. Both irrigation lakes have been successfully excavated and the supply of water has now been established with Haya Water.
The four-hectare grass nursery, the golf courses' 'turf farm' continues to grow and is now significantly green enough to be spotted by aerial view from above the Sultanate. The speed of this growth is attributed to the on-going dedication and expertise of GNGCD's on-site team and Southern Golf Oman LLC.
